“REVOLUTION!”: A Performance Uprising Friday, August 13 and Saturday, August 14, 2010

Our intention is to create a performance event that explodes past expectations and category. The theme encompasses all areas of uprising: guerrilla activity, anarchy, turmoil, innovation, overthrow, destruction, radical change, transformation, upheaval, etc…whatever the mind can conceive and believe. “REAWAKENED” is a performance rebellion through art and dance. We hope that “REVOLUTION!” will serve as a symbolic prelude to the coming of the radical change we all seek.

Varied styles of dance and performance art will be included, such as Burlesque, Fetish, Belly dance, Drag, Interpretive, and more.

Featured performers include: Selcouth Lord Byron, 3 AM, PV-Scene, Manjula, Sanguine, Vivid Motion, Ximon, Vivian Vice of Whistlebait Burlesque, Dirty Dishes Burlesque, Goldie Peacock and Lindsey

REVOLUTION is a co-production of  Selcouth and OrGaNiZeD cHaOs.

Selcouth is a Portland based performance artist and dancer bringing together the art of storytelling and dance. She is the founder and producer of Dark Follies, an outdoor variety show held during the summer First Friday Art Walks in Portland, Maine now in its third year, The Longest Night: A Solstice Celebration and Raqs Gothique: A Night of Dark Dance in collaboration with Gothic Maine. She has performed at Southern Maine Pagan Pride Day (2006 – 2010), Raks Spooki (2007 – 2009), Spectacle of Sin III, ReAwakened, Immortals, Pulp Friction, From the Deep, Orient X-press and the Maine Pagan Music Festival 2010. She has also performed with 3AM. This is her first production collaboration with Lord Byron.

OrGaNiZeD cHaOs is the creation of Lord Byron, who has been dancing and performing since 2001, everywhere from central Maine to Providence, RI. He is co-founder and co-director of PV-Scene (a fetish-based performance art troupe), creator of the performance art troupe 3 AM, dancer, choreographer, Board of Directors member, and past Producer for Vivid Motion (Portland’s kinda quirky dance company responsible for Nutcracker Burlesque), and solo model and performer appearing as Lord Byron, Asmodeus, and his Drag alter-ego Breathless. This is the sixth OrGaNiZeD cHaOs production, after four highly successful ventures at The Asylum – The Immortals, Pulp Friction, From The Deep, and Orient X-Press, and his second OrGaNiZeD cHaOs event at the St. Lawrence after ReAwakened in March, 2009. He was recently nominated for Best Artist in Portland by the League of Young Voters for their ‘Step Up to the Plate’ Awards, and was named one of Portland’s Most Influential for 2010 by The Portland Phoenix, as well as a nomination for Best Performance Artist in the Phoenix ‘Best of Portland’ Poll.
